Post-procedure management
• in order to prevent venous thrombosis, the patient should become mobilised as soon as possible,
• compression dressing is usually necessary for 4-14 days, yet in time it may be changed to specially selected compression stockings or tights,
• the doctor may recommend drugs preventing blood clotting,
• massages (also hydromassages) are advisable during 1-2 weeks post procedure, as they improve venous circulation,
• prolonged exposure to sunlight should be avoided during the recovery period (approx. 6 weeks),
• high temperatures are not beneficial for veins, therefore sauna should be avoided after the varicose vein removal,
• after the procedure, carrying of large loads, high heels, prolonged sitting or standing should be avoided.
