How to prevent varicose veins?
Symptoms
Swelling of the legs, feeling of heaviness, itching, night cramps are the basic symptoms of chronic venous insufficiency. The disease develops slowly. Complaints are common after a day of work in a standing position, long journeys, and in women also during pregnancy and the final phase of the menstrual cycle.
Determination of the disease severity is made upon doctor's consultation and special diagnostic examinations demonstrating the blood flow and disturbances in the venous system, such as the Doppler ultrasound assessing the efficiency of the valves, the condition of the veins and the blood flow.
Venous insufficiency forms
Telangiectasia - the so-called spider veins - are elongated and extended venous plexuses of small diameter. Most often they are subcutaneous and intradermal, found under knees and on the side of the thigh. They are visible through the skin as a blue-red or purple blood vessel fine lines.
Varicose veins of shins - enlarged, twisted shin veins. They are caused by excessive pressure in the venous system, which leads to the venous valve failure.
