Haemorrhoid surgeries - methods

The haemorrhoid surgeries performed at the LUX MED Group Hospital employ such modern techniques as:

•  Barron method - consists in the application of a special rubber band on the nodule base. The procedure is painless, short and the patient quickly returns to the normal activity.
•  Photocoagulation - consists in directing a beam of infrared light produced by a coagulator onto the area of blood-supplying vessel of the haemorrhoid. Owing to this the vessels are coagulated and the blood supply to the haemorrhoid reduced.
•  DGHAL - consists in ultrasound-guided haemorrhoidal vessel ligation.
•  LONGO method - consists in the insertion into the rectum of a special toll (the haemorrhoidal stapler) and in using it to resect and simultaneously stitch the rectal mucosa. The procedure does not remove the haemorrhoids but the vessels supplying them with blood, while the haemorrhoids are pulled to their correct anatomical location. In result of such procedures, the haemorrhoids undergo fibrosis within several weeks. The surgery is done under general anaesthesia.

Anal fissure is a pathological crack or tear in the mucosa. It is usually caused by an excessive contraction of the external anal sphincter.
The procedure is performed in a hospital or short-term surgery setting.
Anal fistula is a narrow canal surrounded by granulation with an internal opening in the rectum or the anal canal and the external one - on the skin surface. It requires a bacteriological analysis and diagnostics by transrectal ultrasound.
