Protruding auricles correction

Definition : Protruding auricles operation is an operation procedure aimed at the improval of the auricles' shape. Many techniques may be applied for correction or reconstruction of the auricles after an injury.

Age : 5 or over

Surgical technique : The procedure is usually performed under local anesthesia. A cut is made behind the auricle through which plasticity of the cartilage which is responsible for the protrusion is made. The cartilage is cut and shaped by use of stitches and special casts temporarily placed at the front surface of the ear. The bandage is removed after 7 days. The stitches are soluble and do not require removal. It is recommended to sleep with a head band for a period of 3 months.
