Liposuction

Definition : Liposuction is a procedure aimed at removing excess fatty tissue from certain areas of the body, such as face and neck, upper arm parts, trunk, abdomen, hips, buttocks, thighs, calves and ankles. This is not a method of reducing body mass, its purpose is to reduce excess fatty tissue not responding to diet and physical exercise. The best candidates for liposuction are people with relatively proper body mass who have excess fatty tissue located on some areas of the body. The best results can be acquired in case of people with elastic skin.
Loose skin may require an additional procedure - abdominal integument plastic operation. Body surface irregularities not connected with fatty tissue may not be improved using liposuction. This procedure improves the appearance of cellulite to a little extent.

Surgical technique : The operation is performed in a local or general anesthesia. The soak up liposuction technique covers the infiltration of the sucked fatty tissue with a solution composed of painkillers, adrenaline and substances facilitating removal of the fatty tissue. This technique may reduce the discomfort during the operation and reduce bruising. Liposuction is performed using metal cannulas placed in small skin cuts allowing the decomposition and suction of the fatty tissue. A special pressure suit and bandages reduce the swelling and accelerate the healing. The patient remains under observation for 24 hours.

Recovery time : 5-7 days
