Gynecomastia
Definition : Gynecomastia is a clinical state which involves gland tissue or fatty tissue development concerning men. It may be caused by hormonal changes or steroid use. The gynecomastia procedure is performed to remove these symptoms and restore the propes appearance of the chest.
Age : 18 or over
Surgical technique : The operation is performed under general anesthesia. Depending on the presence of gland tissue different methods are applied. Fat gynecomastia may be removed by liposuction whereas gland gynecomastia must be removed by a surgeon and sent for histopatological testing. Usually the cut is made on the edging of the nipple and is completely healed after a few days. After the procedure the patient remains under observation for 24 hours. Wearing a special vest for 4-6 weeks is advisable. In case of liposuction massage of the operated area will ensure proper appearance of the chest.
