Breast glands reduction

Definition : Women with large breasts have a few different problems connected with the weight and size of such breasts, such as: back pains, nape pains, arm skin irritation. Breast reduction operations are usually rather performed to relieve these problems rather than to improve the breasts' appearance.

Age : 18 or over

Surgical technique : The procedure is performed in general anesthesia. Depending on the size of the glands and the degree of their reduction, different methods of operating need to be applied. The cuts are usually made around the nipple, vertically to the sub-breast fold and in the sub-breast fold. In case of smaller reduction the cuts are made only around the nipple and vertically to the sub-breast fold. Usually during the procedure of the nipple edging reduction, skin reduction and breast gland reduction is made. After the procedure the patient remains under observation for 24 hours. Wearing a special bra for a period of 6 weeks is advisable.
