Breast gland raising – breast lifting
Definition : The breast gland raising (mastopexia) is an operation aimed at raising and creating the proper shape of drooping (hanging) breasts. Factors such as pregnancy, breast feeding, body mass change and gravity cause changes in the breast appearance among women. Due to the loss of elasticity of the skin the breast loses its shape and begins to hang. The operation is aimed at raising the breasts, changing their shape and allows to reduce the size of the edging of the nipples. Sometimes, when the breasts lost their volume after pregnancy, application of implants along with breast lifting may help in regaining a proper size and volume fill of the breasts. Breasts of all sizes may be raised, but the durability of the procedure in case of large breasts may be smaller.
Age : 18 or over
Surgical technique : The operation is performed under general anesthesia. Depending on the appearance of the breasts different methods may be applied. We usually aim at reducing the quantity of visible scars and ensuring the best possible breast appearance. During the operation the size of the nipple edging is reduced and the cut is made into the sub-breast fold. Sometimes in case of the patient not having and adequate quantity of the breast gland to raise the breast with a good effect, breast implants may be applied. After the procedure the patient remains under observation for 24 hours. Wearing a special bra for a period of 6 weeks is advisable.
Operation duration : approximately 2 hours
Recovery time : 5-7 days
In LUX MED Group Hospital we use implants manufactured and certified by MENTOR and ALLERGAN.
