Abdominoplasty

Tummy-tuck. The abdominal muscles are stretched and the skin is loose. The only cure is to tighten the muscles and remove the extra skin.

Surgical technique: The extra skin is removed and a new navel is fashioned from the old one; the muscles are repaired.

Surgical time and recovery: Surgery takes 3 hours and requires an overnight stay. Drains to remove fluid are removed at 3 and 7 days.

Stitches are absorbable. The wounds are all healed at 2 weeks but strenuous sports are limited for 6 months until the muscles repair is strong. Back to work in 10 days.
