Bakers cyst
Baker's cyst is an accumulation of synovial fluid in the popliteal fossa. It causes rheumatoid arthritis (often due to excessive burden) and deformation disorders. Baker's cyst is an example of ganglion cysts, classified as innocuous, non-neoplastic nodules placed under the skin. It is accompanied by pain and reddening in the cyst region, as well as by a palpable protrusion under the skin. Baker's cyst is detected by ultrasound examination and removed by means of arthroscopic knee surgery. Physical therapy and puncture are first employed in the treatment; next, surgical procedure consisting of cyst removal and closure of the joint connection is performed, if necessary. In the case of the surgical procedure, the disorder recurs in ca. 30% of cases.
