Endoscopy

Endoscopy is the name of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures consisting in exploring the inside of the human body with the use of a fibre-optic instrument called an endoscope. The examinations are performed under local or general anaesthesia. Endoscopy is divided into gastroscopy (concerning the upper gastrointestinal tract) and colonoscopy (focusing on the lower gastrointestinal tract). Endoscopy enables the detection of many diseases of the digestive tract.

The procedures performed at the Gastrointestinal Tract Endoscopy Centre, at the LUX MED Group Hospital, include gastroscopy, sigmoidoscopy and colonoscopy. During the examination, there is a possibility of collecting a biopsy specimen and removing polyps (polypectomy).
The facility has a two-post gastrointestinal endoscopy department, with comfortable preparation rooms and a specially prepared cosy room designed for resting after the undergone endoscopic procedure.
