Colonoscopy
Colonoscopy is an endoscopic procedure for the lower gastrointestinal tract consisting in the examination of the colon. During colonoscopy, a special endoscope is inserted, ended with a camera enabling the sending of images to the outside.
Colonoscopy is usually performed when a physician suspects pathological lesions inside the colon, manifested by such symptoms as: bleeding from the lower gastrointestinal tract, abdominal pain, changes in bowel movement rhythm. The examination is recommended as prophylaxis in patients aged over 50. In our Hospital, there is a possibility of performing colonoscopy under general anaesthesia.
