For the past four years, Dr Jacek Stachowiak has been introducing biological methods of trauma and organ degeneration treatment into surgical practice - of wide application are platelet-derived growth factors and appropriately prepared bone marrow stem cells. The abovementioned methods are used in the treatment of various types of sports injuries - tendon and muscle damage, twisted joints as well as varicose veins or skin wounds hard to heal. More and more commonly there are also used the so called biomaterials, including "artificial" bones, used for instance in the treatment of bone cysts, pseudarthrosis or spinal stiffness.
