What are the one-day surgical interventions?

One-day surgery is a way of treatment that provides a performance of a certain surgical intervention in a minimum time (it means that the patients are treated and released within 24 h). The idea of one-day treatment emerged over 10 years ago and since then has become a standard alternative to hospital treatment. In Poland patients have had a chance to take advantage of it for a few years already. Before the treatment the patient consults a number of specialists, who decide on his or her ability of undergoing such a kind of intervention. One-day surgery demands a number of medical examinations and a very careful diagnosis. The main advantages of one-day surgery lie in a reduced time of waiting for an intervention, reduced risk of infections and stress and shorter time of a hospital stay and absence from work.
