LUX MED Group expands scope of operations
On 22 October 2009, LUX MED Sp. z o.o. concluded an agreement with the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Warsaw, determining the terms and conditions of cooperation in the running of the EOD [Evangelical Diaconia Centre] "Tabita" Care Home in Konstancin Jeziorna.
Pursuant to the concluded agreement, the "Tabita" Care Home, which has been managed by the Parish to date, will be operated by the LUX MED Tabita Sp. z o.o. company, created specifically for this purpose. After meeting the conditions specified in the investment agreement, LUX MED Sp. z o.o. will acquire 88% of shares in the new company. The Parish will retain the remaining 12% and will be entitled to one seat on the Supervisory Board.
The joint plans of the Parish and LUX MED Group envisage obtaining, in the nearest future, of a permit for using a new wing of the building, which will provide a total number of guest rooms of 94 (as compared to the current 61). This will allow to markedly increase the number of persons taken care of, while at the same time maintaining the standards of provided services - as undertaken by the parties to the agreement. All present "Tabita" residents will retain their status as per the agreements signed to date. The parishioners will have the priority right to rooms in "Tabita" and the Parish will possess a package of discount places for congregation members and their spouses.
The newly formed company will employ all the current staff members of the care home. Importantly, LUX MED Tabita Sp. z o.o. will not take over the real estate but it will be simply leasing it for the next 12 years - with an option of extending the agreement for 3 more years.
"With the initiation of cooperation in running the "Tabita" Care Home, the LUX MED Group enters a new field of operations. As we are an expert in providing outpatient and diagnostic services, it is only natural that we seek new development opportunities. By taking part in the running of a care facility, we may draw on our existing experience and put it to use in a sphere that is particularly important from the society point of view, that is care for the elderly and chronically ill. I am convinced that we will significantly contribute to making the coming years a period of stability and prosperity for "Tabita". We have taken on this challenge despite being involved in many other undertakings we plan to complete in near time, such as the opening of a one-day surgery hospital. It is possible that it will prove the first step in this direction of our operations," says Anna Rulkiewicz-Kaczyńska, President of the LUX MED Group.
"The Evangelical Diaconia Centre "Tabita" in Konstancin-Jeziorna is one of the charity undertakings of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Warsaw, which continues the many-ages-old good tradition of service to the others. The "Tabita" centre, functioning for over 80 years, has recently undergone extension and is today one of the top facilities of this type in Warsaw and surrounding areas - and an even more attractive one owing to its fine location. The centre provides quality medical and nursing care and gives its residents a sense of safety in the autumn of their lives. The Parish Council, as the highest authority, has selected the LUX MED Group from among six contending offers for the EOD "Tabita" manager. I hope that the dynamism, medical potential and know-how of the LUX MED Group combined with the experience and tradition of our Evangelical Diaconia Centre "Tabita" will serve as a perfect example of effective cooperation in caring for persons in the not always easy and bright autumn of their lives," states Rev. Piotr Gaś, Holy Trinity Parish Priest.
